I was watching the NBA Finals game last night when the Lakers were schooling the Magic and every two seconds all I heard was how AWESOME Kobe Bryant is. The comparison that we hear is he's just like Mike. He's the new Mike. He's better than Mike.
Guess what . . . KOBE BRYANT IS NOT MICHAEL JORDAN!!!!!
Kobe Bryant is a great player. I'm not taking anything away from Kobe and everything that he's accomplished. Four championships is an outstanding accomplishment and nobody can take that away from him.
But do you know what's better? SIX.
When Jordan and the Bulls went to the Finals, it was over. You knew that they were going to win it. When Kobe and the Lakers go to the Finals, are they going to win it? They didn't when they played the Pistons. They didn't when they played the Celtics. They have a great chance, but it's not a lock. MJ and the Bulls carved their way through the East (including my Knicks) and beat the Lakers, Trailblazers, Suns, Sonics and Jazz.
But, Kobe didn't have great players around him when he lost. Michael Jordan had STEVE KERR AND BILL CARTWRIGHT!!!!
I see Kobe out there with his tounge wagging and jumping up and pumping his fist . . . like 23. STOP IT!!! You are not MJ!!! You are not allowed to talk about Jordan and the media (ABC and ESPN) need to stop the comparisons.

Jordan had pippen and rodman and kerr and harper and kukoc come on now his team was legendary! Kobe bryant plays in a league were defenses are built around him! Jordan didnt play against a zone nevertheless structured double teams... When its all said and done Kobe Bryant will be the greatest basketball player to ever touch the rock
ReplyDelete@deuromody... you're an idiot. how old are you? you must have never seen jordan play. you're trying to tell me that the league has never built defenses around him? wow. either you're ignorant or stupid. everyone prepared for jordan night in and night out! problem was they could never stop him. i mean come on, even the pistons had a defense called the jordan rules (which basically meant you beat him up everytime he got the ball). google it sometime, it might do you some good. did i mention jordan played in an era with hand checks?!? since jordan retired they took hand checking away to cater to these young bucks, a la kobe bryant, so they can start scoring and boost ratings. i want to see kobe do half the shit jordan did during the hand check era. kobe may be good maybe even great but the greatest? give me a break. how many finals mvps? 6 vs 1. How many league mvps? 5 vs 1. defensive player of the year award? 1 vs 0. i won't even go into shooting percentages. i'll just say jordan damn near shot 50% from the field for his ENTIRE career. what about seasons averaging 30+ points? 8 vs 3. and i'm barely scratching the surface.
